I agree with Achebe with his opinions on the literature of Conrad's. He shows to me how people in the world walks over the fact that Conrad is a racist. He recognizes that Conrad is a sneaky writer that gets his messages out in a way that is subtle. I like the book but I believe that people should be aware of Achebe's thoughts after reading the book.

I just read pages 98 to 103 and I am just very irritated. The scene I remember the most was when the son killed his father over a piece of bread. The father pleaded to the son that he will share with him, but the son was so indifferent that he beat his own father over a small piece of bread that also led to the death of the son. the son killed his dad over nothing basically because the son later on died after the father. The men in the train would be compared to animals based on how wild and violent they would fight over food like prey. Wiesel was shown to so much negativity at such a young age which is hard for me to imagine.
This made me feel disgusted just to imagine those people starving. I can't really say anything that can describe the torture that they must have felt. The Jews were dehumanized by stripping away their human rights. They should be allowed to eat whenever but in the concentration camps peole will fight over a piece of bread. At the same time, I am irritated because the Allies knew the entire time and didn't come right away. It just takes time for my brain to process the emotion that I want to feel.
Today's ideas relate to my life because I signed up foe modeling and now I wonder would I be seen as a object. I don't want to be on magazines look like a flirt. Even though we see women mostly being objectified, men can be also. Everyone has seen this type of ideal human being well come to reality because no one is perfect. You have people with curves, no curves, curly hair, or straight hair.God made us the way we are because he believes we should be made that way. Life goes whether you accept who you are or not so just be who you are because I was one of those girls who worried about her looks just to impress. But guess what I took another look at life and believed and accepted myself no matter what other people may think.
I learned today that the chemical weapons now are much stronger and deadly towards a person. The symptoms are much worse. Many people including children died from these weapons that were banned internationally that Syria ignored. Syria has been getting away with many actions that needs to be stopped.
Wiesel has a very gloomy tone in the beginning of the novel. He tells the reader about the experiences that he went through as a child during the Holocaust. Wiesel starts the novel off a strange way to alert the reader about Moishe who was the man that warned everyone of what was happening to the Jews that were took away. Wiesel didn't believe Moishe because Moishe wasn't acting like his usual self. He was all out of character, so people didn't want to believe a homeless guy. I think if I was in the situation, I would've believed Moishe due to the details he had. I would've had a hard time trying to pack my life up, but I would acknowledged the fact that Moishe wouldn't be out of his character for nothing.
